Gifts from Your IRA: Avoid Taxes and Support the Movement for Better Deaths

Are you over age 70 1/2? You can make a donation directly from your IRA to support. the Alliance. Called a Qualified Charitable Distribution, the donation is not treated as income to you. So you don’t pay taxes on it, nor can it push you into a higher tax bracket. You can donate up to $108,000, or if married and filing jointly up to $216,000 per year. Individuals over age 73 are required to take a minimum distribution from their IRAs, which may also be donated to a qualified charity like NHAELO.

Because the donation must come directly from your IRA, most people have their fund manager make the arrangement. NHAELO can accept gifts of cash or stock. The donation may be made to NHAELO, 80 Post Road, Sugar Hill, NH 03586, EIN 85-2308242. If you have any questions call us at (603)728-5557.
